Keep the Holidays Merry With a Little Movement

The holidays are meant to be a time of relaxation and enjoyment with your loved ones, but it is still important to keep moving. It might not be so easy to make it into the gym close to the holidays but here are some simple tips to stay active so as not to feel the post-holiday bloat.

1. Go for a family walk!
This is a great way to spend some time together and catch up on the life. I checked the weather forecast and there is a 0% chance of rain! Even more reason to get out of the house.

2. Do squats when you're waiting for a pot to boil or a plate to microwave. It will make the time go by faster and your booty will thank you later.

3. Organize a friendly game of touch football!
A little bit of competition will help burn off those delicious Christmas cookies. If, by chance, it is raining, a game of charades can get the blood flowing too ;)

4. Don't hesitate to take multiple trips.
No matter what you need to move (presents, plates of food, drinks, etc.), it is safer to carry fewer items per trip, plus it gives you the chance to keep moving.

5. Take a trip to the mountains!
Embrace the spirit of the holidays and go play in the snow. Skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, and inner-tubing are all fun-filled activities that will work up an appetite for some holiday treats.

Hopefully you and your family can find enjoyment from at least one of these helpful tips. Even just a little activity beats spending the holidays on the couch with a full belly! ;)

Have a safe and joyful holiday!
