Excessive calorie restriction may lead to breakdown of muscle tissue for energy and further fat storage. Additionally, basic energy expenditure may slow down in order to conserve energy, you may feel tired and avoid staying active due to low energy levels which over time may cause weight gain.
Following a diet that worked for someone else may not work for you and diet trends are not individualized. Everyone is different and has different calorie requirements based on activity level, medical conditions, age, height, weight, and many other factors.
